En transformant son corps en une prestigieuse œuvre d’art, Sam finira toutefois par découvrir que sa décision s’est faite au prix de sa liberté. Sam Ali is een jonge Syriër, gevoelig en impulsief, die naar Libanon vlucht weg van de oorlog. Om verder naar Europa te kunnen reizen en met de liefde van zijn leven samen te kunnen zijn, accepteert hij zijn rug te laten tatoeëren door één van de meeste besproken hedendaagse kunstenaars ter wereld.
