The EU hits Apple, Google parent firm Alphabet and Meta with the first ever probes under a mammoth digital law, which could lead to big fines against the US tech giants. The US Department of Justice sues Apple for illegally maintaining a monopoly for its iPhone by stifling competition and imposing exorbitant costs on consumers. The EU has hit Apple with a 1.8-billion-euro fine ($1.9 billion) for violating the bloc's laws by preventing music streaming services from informing users about subscription options outside of its App Store.
